Fiesta in Madrid: San Antonio

Bethany Mullins is a student at Western Kentucky University and an ISA Featured Blogger. Bethany is currently studying abroad in Madrid, Spain on the ISA Summer 1 & 2 programs.

Imagine a day when all the single ladies head to church to find out how many boyfriends they’re going to have for the year, or to ask if they will get married within the year. El día de San Antonio was this past Wednesday, June 13th, when all the single women in Madrid did just that.  The staff from the University took us to the Festival de San Antonio to show us a true Madrilenian fiesta:  complete with food, drinks, costumes, music, and we even visited Francisco Goya´s tombstone that is kept in the church of San Antonio.  My favorite thing about festivals in Madrid is the energy and excitement that is bursting from every street corner, and of course the delicious “rosquillas del santa”! What is your favorite thing about festivals abroad?  I decided I can better show you than describe it to you, so check out this vlog from the day!
