For a city that is believed to be as old as 2000 B.C., Lille is a perfect representation that things do, in fact, get better with age. The older streets of the city stand tall, accessorizing with flowers and strings of light to stay just as fashionable as their inhabitants.
Speaking of fashion, France is known to favor darker shades even during the summer months. This, however, doesn’t mean that they can’t appreciate color in other aspects of life. For example, why not use your house to show your true colors?
Even at the Wazemmes market every Sunday.
And of course it would be almost insulting if I didn’t mention their stunning use of metallics. From the top of the clock tower in La Grand Place.
To the iron gates of the Opéra de Lille.
So if you ever find yourself strolling through this beautiful city, wondering what to wear; look around you and take note. Throw on that black dress, but don’t forget the red lipstick.
The world awaits…discover it.
