My New Zealand Adventures

Ashley Lynch is a student at Chapman University and an ISA Featured Photo Blogger. She interned abroad with ISA in Waiheke Island, New Zealand.

New Zealand is a beautiful country with a variety of scenic places to explore. Thankfully, my internship allowed me time to travel!

Taupo

Great Lake Taupo is located in the middle of the North Island. The lake is enormous and the small-town restaurants and shops that surround it have incredible views of the sunset. In Taupo, I enjoyed the adrenaline adventures of skydiving, as well as river rafting in the nearby Tongariro river rapids.

Cape Reigna

On the farthest northern tip of New Zealand lies the Cape Reigna lighthouse. The lighthouse overlooks the point where the rough Tasman sea meets the calm waters of the Pacific Ocean. Although this sight requires a long drive, the journey is well worth it for the picturesque view. Near the lighthouse there are sand dunes which the public are welcome to surf down, as well as a vacant ninety-mile beach drive to enjoy.

Milford Sound

The eighth wonder of the world– the Milford Sound— lives up to its name! The snow-covered mountains tower over the sound which cruise ships explore daily. The cruise ships include the sights of many waterfalls which topple down from unfathomable heights, as well as viewings of natural sea life along the way. The drive to Milford Sound by bus is also long, but it is an unforgettably beautiful scenic route.

Queenstown

Queenstown, located on the southern island,  is a ski destination with a vibrant night life. Apart from spending time on the slopes, other activities in the area include hikes, gondola rides, the kiwi bird park, a mall, and a plethora of restaurants to choose from. No matter what kinds of recreational activities you enjoy, there is something for you to do in Queenstown.

I’m amazed at all that New Zealand has to offer when it comes to naturally breathtaking landscapes, adrenaline-fueling activities, and global cuisine! I can’t wait for the next chance to visit New Zealand!

The world awaits…discover it.
